Hello Lovers! How’s the week treating you?! Super, I hope 🙂 As for me, I actually messed my back up pretty good, like, it even hurts to breathe or cough messed up. I haven’t had pain in my back like this since my injury riddled years as a ballerina. Do any of you beautiful people have any home remedy suggestions that could help me out? Or I guess I could just wait it out 🙁
Anyway, its Wednesday! Which means it’s time for a REVIEW, aaaannnnd btw it’s “National Garlic Day!” (there is truly a day for all things)
The week before last I spoke about an amazing food truck Boteco Austin and today I would like to focus on yet another food truck (Austin’s cup runneth over with food trucks), Tommy Want Wingy. I discovered them when they were located on South 1st, they’re now located on Rainey street, the lollipop style of their wings has fast become the only way I want to eat wings EVER.
Truth talk, wings aren’t the most conducive for “Lady like” dining and the lollipop style chicken wings make eating these wings wicked easy to enjoy. My favorite on the menu is by far the Garlic Parmesan (#NationalGarlicDay ) and the Lemon Pepper. For those of you that enjoy heat on your wings, I hear the OG is legit, and if you’re really daring with heat go for the Holy Schnikes though be warned I have yet to know anyone that has eaten a whole order of the Holy Schnikes.
They used to have tater tots!! I love love love tater tots. There is something so nostalgically delicious about them. There great with cheese on them, queso, chili beans, drenched in “Fancy” ketchup (as in the “Whataburger Fancy Ketchup” available at H.E.B) better known to me as THE BEST ketchup, shoot, tater tots are even just plain awesome with salt and pepper. Alas, it was sad news to me that they no longer have these delightful treats, they have moved on to some pretty tasty waffle fries. All that said, the wings at Tommy Want Wingy definitely are the stars to this stage.
Tommy Want Wingy’s 5pc. wings sell for $6.50, an order of Waffle Fries $4, and add Ranch or Bleu cheese 50¢, you can even order to go! $1 charge for every 10pc. to-go order.
As I mentioned above they are no longer located on South 1st and have now set up “shop” at a pretty great Austin bar Lustre Pearl located on Rainey Street. On a hot sunny day or a warm night order yourself some wings, grab a beer or one of their amazing cocktails and enjoy the atmosphere. I love the freshness of the Lustre Lemonade,
strawberry moonshine, and lemonade. When I’m feeling frisky I like the Clive Davis
bulleit rye, lemon juice, ginger brew, peychaud’s bitters, chocolate bitters. Either way making this stop has a lot to offer you.
So here’s to attempting to eat like a “Lady” or at the least be a little less messy and let’s not forget “National Garlic Day”. Go getchu some Tommy Want Wingy at Lustre Pearl ASAP. I know I’m sure craving them after this, if only I could actually get my old hurt back self into a car 🙁 Maybe one of you will bring me some?! No?! Well, can’t say I didn’t try hahahahaha.
