It’s Fri-yay y’all!! I don’t know about you but I am in serious need of a “let’s take it easy” weekend! and maybe a cocktail or two… three…. What say you?! Speaking of “easy” how do y’all feel about “The Big Easy”? aka New Orleans? I happen to have a HUGE love for pretty much anything Louisianan 😉 especially the food. Louisiana is incredibly full and rich in history and that includes their food. This leads me to tell you how lucky I felt to get an invite to try some awesome Cajun style food from Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe.
Get this, Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe is right here in Texas! and they have been at this for over 26 years! Normally when I need a New Orleans fix I head to my favorite Evangeline Cafe on Brodie, in South Austin, but I figured why not give something new a try. I want to say our visit was definitely worth the drive out to Round Rock.
Check out the menu. There is probably a ton that you won’t be able to pronounce but I promise you the staff is used to it, just point and they’ll take it from there. Everything was delicious! So go ahead and be adventurous.
We started with “Rat Toes” (not actually rat toes) shrimp n’ crab stuffed jalapeno batter’d and fried w/ cool buttermilk dip, Fried Green Beans, and Fried Crawfish tails
Those Fried Green Beans tho….. Yummy.
and huge platter of shrimp cocktail
I’m not going to lie, at this point I am already on the edge of stuffed, but now we head into entrees. From Shrimp Creole, Big juicy shrimp in zesty creole sauce over fluffy rice, Cajun Etoufee, made with shrimp or crawfish in rich dark roux sauce with dirty rice, Fish Ah Yee , Fried tilapia fish covered with creamy cajun shrimp & crab sauce, served with rice & veggie’s, wait we’re not done folks…..and Tchoupitoulas, a tasty hickory-grilled chicken breast over smoked ham, rite nice mushrooms and taters topped with a special sauce. I’m getting full just thinking about all we ate. I think I need a second stomach.
But wait we’re still not done. Let’s talk cocktails. We shared the “Gator Punch” which is 6 liquors in a fishbowl and serves 4 ding dang people. I thought this was crazy soooo I went with the 1/2 size haha! it only serves 2 😉
while Jeff went for a more reasonably sized drink called the “Swamp Thing“, which is the “Mardi Rita” and a “Hurry Cane” blended with a melon and raspberry Liqueur topper.
Hopefully you’re now in the mood for a little or a lotta Cajun and I highly recommend you try out Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe. The atmosphere is fun, the food is delicious, and the staff treats you like family, but better 🙂 hahahaha!
