Do You Believe In “Feel Good Fast Food”?

Hello my Loves! Let’s  talk about fast food. Do you believe in “feel good fast food”? Have you ever even heard of such a thing?

Well I’m here to tell you “feel good fast food” EXISTS! at least here in Austin, Texas it does and hopefully in the near future this drive-thru will be everywhere for everyone to enjoy. I’m talking about FLYRITE. Flyrite actually cares what we put into our bodies and has based their whole concept around this. From No MSG, No GMO, No hormones, No fillers, No artificial ingredients, No high fructose, to using mostly all organic ingredients, unbleached flours, and they even make all their own syrups from scratch to make some delicious milkshakes. Pictured below is the “Eastside” chicken sandwich, a salted caramel milkshake, with a side of fries, this is one of, if not my most favorite things to order.

Flyrite is truly committed to making a #BETTERBIRD and it truly shows in their staff all the way to the top. We had the absolute pleasure to hang out with Quirino “Q” Silva, the Director of Culinary Operations for Flyrite. Q optimizes what it is to truly care of about people and the community. He has helped to not only build a menu filled with amazing healthy options but he has also helped Flyrite start a program called “The Lunch Money Fund”.

After speaking to the Food Operations Director for AISD, Q found out that there are many kids here in Austin that don’t always have lunch money. What does that mean? Well, sadly, some parents just aren’t able to afford the cost of school lunches and the great people of AISD don’t want to see any child go hungry, so they give every hungry child a hot lunch regardless. In AISD doing this great thing for the kids it has put them in the red in regards to their budget. Q and the ownership of Flyrite felt that something must be done. Flyrite set up the program “The Lunch Money Fund” in which they customers of Flyrite are able to help our Austin Community. Every $3 given to the program provides a student with a nutritious higher quality meal while also helping to teach students about the importance of a healthy diet.  All guests at Flyrite can choose to make a donation (min. $1 value) while placing their order. The Cashier will ring up and add to their bill (tax exempt). This will then be tracked through the POS system. Guests who are FiveStars Loyalty members can also use their points to make a donation, that Flyrite will pay directly to the program. All of the donations will be tracked and paid monthly to the AISD fund to supplement students whose lunch accounts have become delinquent. This in turn allows the AISD Food Director to use more funds for purchasing higher quality ingredients for students’ meals. Win Win right?! That’s not all though folks, Flyrite also offers a job placement program for any AISD students and their family members, plus 10% off to any AISD employee that shows his or hers AISD badge to the cashier, and 20% off for any AISD professional gathering. That’s a whole lotta great for not only our kids but for our community and THAT’S a business we can get behind!
